EV Test Drive Checklist

1. Is the EV test drive vehicle charged to a level sufficient to demonstrate the vehicle's real-world range experience without range anxiety — typically above 60% state of charge?

2. Is the vehicle's regenerative braking system confirmed as functional and set to the appropriate level for a first-time EV customer before the test drive begins?

3. Is the test drive route planned to include a variety of driving conditions (urban stop-start, open road, incline) that allow the customer to experience how regenerative braking and efficiency management work in practice?

4. Is the customer briefed on the key differences between EV and ICE driving — the instant torque, regenerative braking feel, absence of engine sound — before they move off?

5. Is EV-specific safety information provided before the test drive, including what to do if a warning light appears, how to stop the vehicle safely, and the location of the service disconnect if relevant?

6. Is the on-board charging and range display demonstrated during the test drive, showing the customer how to interpret the remaining range estimate and energy usage display?

7. Is a public charging demonstration offered or explained during the test drive — either a live stop at a public charger or a practical walkthrough of the charging process?

8. Are the customer's questions about range, charging at home, charging at work, and public charging infrastructure answered specifically and accurately by the accompanying advisor?

9. Is the customer given adequate time behind the wheel on the test drive route to form a genuine experience of the EV — not a brief circuit that does not allow the driving characteristics to be appreciated?

10. Is the customer's reaction to the driving experience noted and used to guide the post-drive conversation, tailoring the discussion to the specific aspects of EV driving that resonated most?
