What this guidebook covers
Vehicles, tyres and parts sold in the UAE must conform to UAE and GSO standards, and recalls announced by the Ministry must be completed. Failures fall under the consumer protection schedule: AED 100,000 to 1,000,000 per violation. Every recall is public.
This guidebook covers the 5 vehicle standards for UAE dealers, with 12 checkpoints: GCC-conforming vehicles, completed recalls, conforming and in-date tyres, genuine and conforming parts, and disclosure of used car condition.
The 5 vehicle standards
| Code | Standard | Ideal fix time |
|---|---|---|
| VS-01 | Vehicles GCC-conforming | 7 days |
| VS-02 | Recalls completed | Immediate |
| VS-03 | Tyres conforming and in date | 24 hours |
| VS-04 | Genuine and conforming parts | 72 hours |
| VS-05 | Used car condition disclosed | 72 hours |
How to run a UAE vehicle standards and recalls audit, step by step
- Confirm what applies. Pull the open recall list for every brand sold and check current MoIAT and GSO technical regulations.
- Walk the site, standard by standard. Score each of the 12 checkpoints Pass, Fail or N/A. N/A only where the standard rules it out, with the reason recorded. Check stock VINs against open recalls, tyre date codes on display cars, and used car reports for disclosed damage.
- Capture the evidence. A pass counts only with proof captured at the time of the audit: recall completion by VIN, conformity certificates, tyre date codes and used car inspection reports.
- Give every fail an owner and a fix time. Record what you saw and who owns the fix. Each standard carries an ideal fix time, from immediate to 7 days, counted from audit submission (see the table above).
- Fix it, then prove it. The site fixes the cause and uploads proof of closure; the auditor checks the proof before closing the finding.
- Re-check at the next audit. Confirm closed findings stay closed, and look for the same fail at your other sites so one gap doesn't repeat across the network.
