1. Is the OEM-approved EV diagnostic tool available, connected, and updated to the current software version required to communicate with the EV models being diagnosed?
2. Is the vehicle's VIN confirmed in the diagnostic system before diagnosis begins, ensuring the correct model-specific software, calibration data, and fault code library are applied?
3. Is a full system scan performed at the start of every EV diagnosis, covering all available EV-specific modules (battery management system, charging system, motor control unit, thermal management)?
4. Are fault codes recorded in full — including code, description, freeze-frame data, and confirmed/intermittent status — not only the headline fault description?
5. Is battery state-of-health (SoH) assessed and documented as part of every EV diagnosis where the battery or charging system is involved?
6. Is individual cell voltage data reviewed where battery concerns are present, identifying whether the issue is a specific cell or cell group rather than the entire pack?
7. Is the charging system tested under load (simulated charging session) as part of the diagnostic process for charging complaints, not only assessed at rest?
8. Is the vehicle's software version checked and compared against the latest OEM-released version, with any outstanding software updates documented as part of the diagnosis?
9. Is a root cause identified for every EV fault — distinguishing between battery degradation, charging system failure, software issue, sensor fault, and external damage — before a repair recommendation is made?
10. Is the root cause finding documented on the job card in terms the service advisor can communicate to the customer in plain language, not only as a fault code reference?
