1. Is a current, accurate WIP register maintained showing every vehicle in the body shop, its current repair stage, and its committed delivery date?
2. Is WIP reviewed in a daily production meeting, with every vehicle whose delivery commitment is at risk identified and a recovery action planned?
3. Are vehicles in the WIP clearly labelled with job number, repair stage, and next action, so any team member can identify the status of any vehicle without consulting the WIP register?
4. Are vehicles waiting for parts, insurer approval, or sub-let services kept in a designated waiting area, separate from vehicles in active repair to prevent production floor congestion?
5. Is the WIP age distribution reviewed — identifying vehicles that have been in the shop beyond the expected cycle time — with each aged vehicle having a documented explanation and recovery plan?
6. Are jobs awaiting insurer approval or supplement approval identified separately in the WIP tracker, with the approval status and outstanding amount visible?
7. Is parts delay status shown in the WIP register, confirming which vehicles are waiting for specific parts and the expected delivery date for each outstanding item?
8. Are paint queue slots managed as a finite resource — with vehicles scheduled into the paint booth based on confirmed preparation completion, not estimated completion?
9. Is customer communication triggered automatically or through a defined process when a vehicle's stage changes significantly — particularly for approval status, parts arrival, and paint completion?
10. Is the daily production target (vehicles to be completed and ready for delivery) set and reviewed at the start of each day, with the team's workload plan adjusted to meet the target?
